Google Says to “Always Try” to Use HTTPS Links Instead of HTTP

John Mueller, Google’s Search Advocate, advises always attempting to replace internal links pointing to HTTP URLs with the most recent HTTP versions. This is stated in a Reddit discussion that asks whether it’s worthwhile to switch internal HTTP links to HTTPS versions even when redirects are already in place. Changing links isn’t beneficial when appropriate redirects are in place, according to Google’s Gary Illyes several years ago. Mueller now claims that it is “always” worthwhile. Thankfully, updating HTTP internal links in bulk is simple, as several commenters in the thread have noted.

Google is Loading New People Also Ask In The Search Footer Section

After you engage with the people who also ask the area in the upper section of the Google Search results, Google will dynamically load a new people also ask section in the footer of the search results.

We are unsure if this is a brand-new development; however, Alexis Rylko from iProspect tweeted about it. 

For bloggers, Hosts, E-Commerce Sites, and More, Google Has Added Links to Its Content Guidelines

Google added five more links to its overview of the guidelines page; however, keep in mind that this content has already been published in the Google Search developer resources for a while (at least a couple of years). After publishing this, Google removed the documentation for blogger SEO methods.

Google Now Includes a Field For “Asian-Owned Business” in Business Profiles

Asian-owned companies have been added as another company attribute for Google Business Profiles. According to Google, this new badge, which can be added to your company in Google Maps and Google Search, “makes it easier for Asian-owned businesses to be found in their own community.” 

Google Experiments With Site Name & Favicon on Image Search Results

By including the full site name and the site’s favicon in the image box, Google is experimenting with advertising the source of the photos it displays in web searches.

Google is experimenting with three advertisements rather than two local service ads per page of search results. According to Google’s Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin, the test will be conducted to boost customer confidence in LSAs.

LinkedIn is Testing New Human Curated Discover Feed

A new part of the mobile app with material selected by people rather than algorithms is what LinkedIn is exploring as an alternative to the Discover feed. A dedicated tab in the LinkedIn app will store content posted by accounts outside your network, much like other discovery-based feeds. How the content is chosen in the LinkedIn feed differs from other feeds. The new feed was previewed by LinkedIn’s VP of Product, Blake Barnes, who noted that it is still in the early stages of testing.
